Mokashi

Mokashi is a biodesign solution to the inconsistent, confusing and complicated process of trying to compost meat in New York City.

Project submitted for the BioDesign Challenge x Mars Wrigley Sprint, an annual biodesign sprint. 

Award Received: Semi-finalist

  • Getting people to feel comfortable to compost meat (normally it makes them uneasy).

  • Discovering the bokashi method and finding a community willing to work with us.

  • Changing people’s habits requires a lot of user engagement (interviews, etc) to understand the the exact behavior that is amenable to change.
